The Food Standards Provision is a non-profit organisation dedicated to protecting public health from risks arising from the consumption of food. We are determined to drive change in the food system so it delivers better outcomes for consumers. We provide access to free training courses which provide an insight into the food hygiene rating scheme and the procedures you should follow to ensure you pass your food hygiene inspection. We also provide access to free Food Hygiene Level 2 Training and information on how to ensure your business is compliant with the Food Standards Agency. This includes implementing a digital food safety system to keep records of all your food safety procedures, ready for observation upon your next food safety inspection.

Food Safety Management System

Our tailored food safety management system helps businesses in the food sector maintain compliance and ensure product safety. We offer an all-in-one professional system for your food standards management, quality and safety audits. We are helping restaurants, hotels and retailers reduce paper, save money, and gain oversight whilst making life easier for their teams.

Free Food Hygiene Courses

Our expert-led food hygiene courses equip food industry professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary for effective food safety practices. We educate staff on the right way to handle and prepare food, protecting customers from harmful diseases. Our aim is to help food businesses assess key strengths and weaknesses of their own premises and guide them through the improvements they need to make, to achieve a 5 star rating.

Consumer Advocacy

We actively promote the interests of consumers, ensuring that their rights are protected in the food supply chain. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) protects consumers in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland by regulating food businesses and working to ensure food is safe and authentic. Food businesses have a legal obligation to ensure food safety, food labelling, quality food production, records of any food incidents, awareness of food allergies and transparency.

The Importance of Good Food Standards

We believe it is important that people understand the truth about where our food comes from and what’s in it, and to have access to an affordable, healthy and sustainable diet.

Understanding food hygiene ratings

The Food Hygiene Rating Scheme helps consumers choose where to eat out or shop for food by giving them clear information about a business's hygiene standards. The scheme is run in partnership with local authorities, where a food safety officer from the local authority inspects your business.

Thinking of eating out?

If you’re thinking of eating out, check the food hygiene rating at www.food.gov.uk/ratings, or look for the green and black sticker before you decide where to eat or buy food. The Food Hygiene Rating Scheme can tell you how hygienically your food is prepared.

Why is good food hygiene essential for business?

Good food hygiene is essential to make sure that the food you serve is safe to eat. It helps prevent food poisoning. When you are setting up a food business, you need to introduce ways of working that will help you ensure good food hygiene is right from the start.
